TV JOURNALISM

1988-1996 Sharlene worked as researcher, writer, presenter and in post production for Saudi Arabian TV. She assisted in production of  330  programs of interview format. VIPs interviewed by Sharlene were Saudi Royal Family Officials, including the first Arab Muslim astronaut, gov't ministers, ambassadors, top businessmen, academicians, Nobel & Pulitzer prize winners, the president of FIFA and world renowned heart surgeons. She wrote and presented documentaries of Saudi national interest and National Day Programs.

During the Gulf Crisis in 1990 Sharlene travelled to the front lines and interviewed Saudi & Egyptian troops; she interviewed naval officers and journalists on a warship in the Persian Gulf during maneuvers, interviewed doctors who escaped from the occupation in Kuwait and she presented a program about the US hospital ship, Mercy.

In 1992 Sharlene covered the special Rembrandt Exhibition at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and the Van Gogh Museum, sponsored by KLM and the Royal Netherlands gov't. She wrote and presented four programs about the Netherlands which were broadcast on Saudi TV including a program of the Masters Rembrandt and Van Gogh. KLM used the programs for promotional material.

PRINT JOURNALISM

From 1990-95  Sharlene wrote for three English newspapers and a magazine in Saudi Arabia. In 1987 she wrote and illustrated for the Canadian Arab magazine "Al Jalia". Her poetry has been published in newspapers and magazines in Saudi Arabia and England.

PUBLIC SPEAKING

On scholarship, Sharlene studied public speaking in Chatauqua, NY. She has spoken to many groups about her careers in art and television journalism.

PHILANTHROPY

She donated to UNICEF the rights to produce prints of three paintings. UNICEF marketed her print "Sunflowers" in Europe and Asia in 1997. She volunteered for UNICEF in Saudi Arabia in '97-'98 and was a volunteer worker for other charitable organizations in the region.

NURSING,  REIKI AND I.E.T.®

Sharlene is a Registered Nurse in the province of Ontario, Canada. She is a graduate of the Prince Edward Island Hospital School of Nursing, three year diploma program.  In 1999 she became a certified  Usui Reiki  Master,  teacher and practitioner. Reiki is the ancient art of hands on healing. This has also enabled her to instill higher vibrations into her artwork.  In September 2000 in the USA she certified as a practitioner at  the advanced level for Integrated Energy Therapy® (IET) and in 2003 she was certified as a Master-Instructor for IET. She has a holistic practice in London, Ontario, offering Reiki and IET sessions as well as Classes in Reiki and IET. See the related website, www3.sympatico.ca/bmclearon
